Valeria Chuba PhD, SEP
I’m a sexologist, coach, educator, and a somatic therapy practitioner. Just as importantly, I’m a trauma survivor. I have spent decades healing from my own painful experiences and harmful conditioning. Trauma, especially sexual trauma, robs us of our agency, safety and boundaries. It erodes our self- trust. It alienates us from our bodies and through this alienation it impacts the core sense of who we are as human and sexual beings. I have experienced all of this firsthand.
This is why when I talk to my clients, I understand the depth and the complexity of their suffering. I also understand how challenging it is to find answers and qualified professional help. Talk-based approaches, like coaching and cognitive therapy, are incredibly helpful and effective modalities. But for sex-related wounding, somatic therapy is in a league of its own. It can go to the core of where the pain is stored - in the body - and through engaging the nervous system, it can work quickly and effectively. I can honestly say that the process of taking my body back from trauma through somatic therapy has been the most powerful and effective part of my journey to sexual healing and freedom. I have seen the same happen to countless clients and peers. This is why in my work, I combine sexology and somatic therapy to create the most comprehensive and effective approach to help my clients.
